Inorganic Organisms 2012
Shot with film, each photograph is a double exposure of a living organism (shrub, leaf) and an inorganic manufactured material (steel, rubber). I thought about what organic form, color, or texture might echo a manufactured material so that the photographs might be somewhat harmonious and resemble something living. After scanning my film and looking at the images, I noticed I was getting back some pretty odd results. Maybe not exactly what I had in mind, but I became more interested in how abstract they turned out. What parts of the image are of something natural and which are synthetic - some become difficult to dissect.
